European Study Group on the Molecular Biology of Picornaviruses

Dear Friends,

This is our first communication to announce the plans for EUROPIC 2002. EUROPIC meetings have been held every two years for over twenty years. Many different European countries have hosted them, and a tradition of outstanding quality has been solidly established. It was decided during EUROPIC 2000 in Italy that, for the first time, the next meeting should be held on the other side of the Atlantic. An East Coast contingent of picornavirologists (Barry Baxt, Ellie Ehrenfeld, Marvin Grubman, Peter Mason and Eckard Wimmer) was asked to organize the affair that we will call EUROPICamerica 2002.

The meeting will be held May 14-18, 2002, in a lovely oceanfront resort and conference center called SeaCrest, located on the beautiful Cape Cod peninsula, south of Boston, Massachusetts (http://www.seacrest-resort.com). Participants should plan to arrive on Monday, May 13, and depart on Sunday, May 19, 2002. Please mark your calendars!
